Traditional western occultism believes that we have a second
body, coexisting with our physical body, but on another plane of existence -
the Astral Plane. It is widely believed that the astral is causal to the physical,
that is, changes made in or on the astral will be reflected by changes in physical
reality.
With training, it is said that the astral body can be made
to separate from the physical, and that our consciousness can be projected into
this other body. We can then travel around the physical world, or explore the
astral plane.
One of my friends, who was, it has to be said, quite sceptical
about this, listened patiently to an account of how this can be achieved. For
example, one of the recommendations for getting into the astral body is to lie
down and relax in a familiar setting, such as your bed room, then imagine you
are getting up, walking downstairs, looking around the house, and maybe even
going for a walk in the surrounding area. The theory goes that after some practice,
you will find yourself snapping into the astral body and actually be doing these
things.
This was what happened to my friend. He was suddenly there.
Christos Experience
Is basically just a variation on the traditional methods for
projecting into the astral except in this method there is usually some time
travel experiment involved. Indeed, the most common experience with Christos
in to project into a past life.
Well, the possibilities are immense. I know that some people
reading this item will have a go at projection, and some of you will succeed
easily. So what can you expect? When you first step out of your body, you will
notice that things around you have a different hue, and seem somewhat unreal.
This is because the physical world is not the natural environment for the astral
body.
You may also notice that you are joined to your physical body
by a fine silver cord, reminiscent of the umbilical. I say, "may"
because not everyone sees this, but it is a quite common experience.
Now you are out there, you can go anywhere in the physical
world, just by thinking about it. Indeed staying put may be quite hard at first
because you tend to find yourself "zapping" to wherever you think
about as soon as the idea enters your (astral) head. So have some idea of where
you want to go in advance.
If the scenery becomes vivid and realistic, then you have
probably moved onto the astral plain. Now the astral itself is quite fluid and
easily changed by the most fleeting thoughts and emotions. Equally, it soon
changes back again, or into something else again. This can be very disconcerting
at first, so I would be inclined to return to your body (by simply willing yourself
to be there) and read up on the subject before venturing too far in this direction.
There are books and materials out there that will help you to deal with this,
and identify when you are in a more stable area of the astral.
