One of the intriguing possibilities, once you get out of your
body, is the possibility of time travel. Of course, because the astral plane
is so fluid, it is easy to end up in a non-physical environment that conforms
to your wishes. However, for the serious - plan you trip to the past. Choose
somewhere you are familiar with at first, and go back a relatively short time
(again by willing it and holding the date and place in mind). Have a good look
round and try and bring back some checkable details. One regular traveller made
a mental note of the acts appearing on posters for local shows when she travelled
back 50 years or so. Bringing back checkable information helps you to build your
confidence, as a lot of local information can be researched in your local library.
Checking things in this way also helps you to learn to recognise the subtle
differences between a physical environment, and an "unreal" astral
one. And by unreal in this context, I mean an astral environment that does not
correspond with any location that ever existed in the physical. Authors Gavin and Yvonne Frost claim that it is possible to
have a form of astral sex. This blending of two people's astral bodies is reported
to be far more satisfying than physical sex and creates strong bonds very quickly.
I shudder to think what sort of adultery arguments this practice could raise
though. Equally, the Frost's claim that it is possible to possess
someone else's body. All that you need to do is to wait by their bedside until
their astral body departs (many occultists believe this happens automatically
during sleep and that dreams are in fact astral experiences), then slip in and
run their body around. Clearly, this would create a strong understanding of that
person, including a deep comprehension of how they think and feel. Equally clearly, it would behove the cautious to guard against
possession by another, if only because of the potential legal consequences of
their actions with your body. Many people believe the astral is where the recently deceased
exist until it is time to give up their astral body and move on. There are regions
of the astral that certainly seem to be populated by the recently deceased.
So it is possible to visit and chat with them. Environments vary. As the astral
is fluid and easily shaped by thought and emotion, the dead tend to find themselves
in an area that coincides with what they expected.
